Formula and the 1,000 Islands Poker Run Presented by Poker Runs America

Formula’s mid-August calendar brought us to the beautiful region of the St. Lawrence Seaway near Kingston, Ontario, and the area known as 1,000 Islands. We were there to meet Mark Rotharmel from Poker Runs America magazine and do a destination story and performance trial on the new 2009 Formula 382 FAS3Tech®. Did we ever have fun doing this project!

We traveled well over 100 miles on Thursday, August 6th, touring the beautiful, but complicated waters of the St. Lawrence Seaway. Water conditions changed during our day from flat-glass sunny morning conditions to three to four-foot waves in a seaway crowded with other watercraft in the afternoon.

Poker Run weekend dawned with crystal clear skies and warm temperatures. The run up the seaway had different speed limits in certain areas, and with the able staff of volunteers and patrol boats, everyone complied, and much to our surprise no one got lost. The crowd at the poker run village was one of the biggest we’d ever witnessed. There was also a large crowd all along the shoreline during the event. Our Mercury 700 SCi-powered 382 FAS3Tech performed flawlessly the entire weekend. Our thanks go to Mercury Racing and their staff for the continued support they show to Formula—thank you!
